You claim your products are safe to use after cosmetic surgery and facial procedures? Isn’t it unwise to use any makeup when your skin has been through a procedure?
Mineral makeup is the only kind of makeup recommended for use after cosmetic or facial procedures. Because of the purity of INIKA’s ingredients, it is extremely gentle on the skin.
The minerals in INIKA products have soothing properties for the skin and also help to hide any redness.

Does INIKA use Titanium Dioxide with nanoparticles in their products?
There are two kinds of Titanium Dioxide used in cosmetic products. There is concern about the nano-sized particles of Titanium Dioxide, but INIKA DOES NOT use these in our products. INIKA has conducted extensive research in this area and is extremely confident about the safety of the non-nano sized titanium that we use – which has had no adverse health effects reported. INIKA’s Titanium Dioxide is considered fine with the particles being between 1 and 2 microns.
It has no nanoparticles, and therefore cannot under any circumstances penetrate the skin. To read more on this topic, please click here to visit The INIKA Blog

I didn’t know that traditional makeup contained potentially harmful chemicals. What kinds of chemicals are found in makeup and what potential harm can they cause?
The Thriving Healthy Women website at www.thrivinghealthywomen.com.au (which was set up by the women who founded INIKA) contains a complete list of toxic ingredients which can be found in traditional cosmetics, as well as information on how these ingredients can affect our health. You will find a detailed Toxic Ingredient Directory here.
I know INIKA does not use talc in your cosmetics? Is makeup containing Talc bad for you?
Talc is a mineral, produced by the mining of talc rocks and then processed by crushing, drying and milling. Processing eliminates a number of trace minerals from the talc, but does not separate minute fibres which are very similar to asbestos. Talc itself is toxic and a known carcinogen. INIKA products NEVER contain talc.
What are parabens and why don’t INIKA use them?
Parabens are preservatives which are commonly used in products such as soap, shampoo, deodorant and makeup. There is accumulating evidence questioning the safety of parabens. Traces of parabens have been found in breast tumour samples, although its link to the development of cancer is disputed. Despite the link being unproven the potential is sufficient for INIKA to decide never to use parabens.
What is Bismuth Oxychloride, why is it in so many mineral brands and why don’t you include it in INIKA products?
Women occasionally experience skin irritation when using mineral makeup, particulary in hot weather, and don't know why. Often the inclusion of Bismuth Oxychloride in mineral makeup is the reason. Bismuth Oxychloride is actually a by-product of refined lead and copper.
It has a pearlescent look to increase luminosity in mineral makeup. Many mineral makeup brands use this as it is a cheap filler. Many people, including sufferers of acne and rosacea will find that using products containing this ingredient will irritate their skin. INIKA cosmetics DO NOT ever contain Bismuth Oxychloride. Visit The INIKA Blog for more details.
Will INIKA mineral foundation clog my pores?
NO! INIKA mineral foundations are pure, safe and natural and don’t contain any of the ‘nasties’. The inert minerals cannot support bacteria and all products are NON-comedogenic, meaning they do not clog the pores or irritate the skin.
Many women dislike that heavy made up feeling experienced with traditional makeup. Mineral cosmetics are different and you can achieve incredible coverage without feeling like you are wearing makeup!
What makes INIKA different to other mineral cosmetic companies?
Unfortunately, all mineral cosmetics are not created equal! We have taken an active stance to make a difference in the world, to produce products that are ethical, healthy and safe for your skin as well as our precious environment.
INIKA was launched in 2006 and is an Australian mineral cosmetics brand created from quality minerals sourced from the very rocks that form our land. What makes INIKA different is the purity of ingredients and what is NOT in our products. INIKA products are pure and natural, made from crushed mineral pigments and contain absolutely NO harsh chemicals, nanoparticles, fillers, talc, bismuth oxychloride (a known skin irritant and by-product of refined lead and copper), GM ingredients, parabens, preservatives or fragrances.
Ingredients listing laws mean that some of these ingredients may not even be listed on product packaging. Customers have piece of mind in knowing that every single ingredient used in any INIKA product will be readily available and listed for review by the consumer on packaging and the INIKA website.
INIKA is also one of the only makeup brands in the world to be 100% Certified Vegan, Halal and Cruelty Free. This means not only are INIKA products not tested on animals, but none of its ingredients are tested on animals either.
Does INIKA offer sun protection in their products?
YES! INIKA mineral foundations have an SPF of 15. The NON-nano/NON-micronised titanium dioxide and zinc oxide used in INIKA products offer natural, built-in sun protection by reflecting and scattering UV rays.
The minerals are also very resistant to water, so are a great option for those who like to wear makeup when exercising, going to the beach or swimming.
What is mineral makeup?
INIKA’s mineral cosmetics are made from the purest natural minerals (fine miniature rock crystals) taken from the earth. Mineral makeup has gained popularity because unlike more traditional products, they generally contain fewer preservatives.
They should also be nanoparticle and fragrance-free, which is an important factor for users with sensitive skin and allergies. Many other ingredients such as wax, talc, oil and dye, normally found in traditional makeup, are absent from most mineral makeup.
Mineral makeup is one of the largest current beauty trends, despite it being around for over 30 years. The present trend towards being “green” and using natural ingredients has given new life to mineral cosmetics.
What are the key organic/natural ingredients used in INIKAs products?
We use only natural minerals (fine miniature rock crystals) that come from Mother Earth. Our minerals are finely milled making it a purer type of makeup as compared to more conventional types. Other ingredients used are Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (we use the NON-nano/NON-micronized type which means that it cannot be absorbed into the blood stream and the particles are of a larger size that sit on the surface of the skin).
Zinc Oxide provides a level of natural in-built sun protection, Iron Oxides (the source of the beautiful pigments), in combination with Jojoba Seed Oil, Certified Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Certified Organic Macadamia Oil, Certified Organic Shea Butter, Calendula Extract, Certified Organic Oils of Rosehip, Evening Primrose, Hazelnut, Avocado, Apricot as well as Certified Organic Essential Oils of Lavender, Sandlewood, Ylang Ylang, Geranium and Rosemary Extract.
