INIKA Mineral CosmeticsKeep up to date with INIKA and all the happenings from the makeup and fashion world! After reading an article in the Sunday Telegraph about how to reduce your carbon footprint a little each day, we decided to adapt it a little and do it this week. Monday: “Giving up meat one day a week will save money, reduce your environmental impact and improve your health”. Having a meat-free Monday in the office was a cinch. Tuesday: “Ban bottled water”. Lucky at INIKA we have a water filter with a choice of either room temp or chilled so we encouraged everyone to drink from a glass or refill their bottle. Wednesday: “Go unplugged”. Well we couldn’t really implement this one in an office that relies on technology, so instead we organised a night out. After all drinking wine at the pub doesn’t use power like sitting at home watching Offspring does. Thursday: “Walking or cycling to work”. Well this one was a little controversial. We ended up carpooling and getting the free bus, except for our gym bunny Summer who was dedicated to the plan. Friday: Turn off at the power point. When we left the office at 5pm we made sure everything was switched off at the wall and no computers were left on standby. In our house we regularly have vegetarian meals, not neccessarily on Mondays but at least once a week. Spinach pie is a favourite.
When we go to dbed at night the tv and computer are turned off at the wall and have been for years and we always turn off lights as we leave the room .
We are also lucky enough to have double glazing and a solar panel to heat our water and use a wetback on our fireplace to heat it in the winter. the biggest blessing is LOw low power bills.
Sounds like you guys are doing great! Keep up the good work.!
